Why is it necessary to share the gospel?

Isaiah 59:1-4, 9-13
Life Question: Why is it necessary to share the gospel?
Biblical Truth: People need to hear the gospel because living in rebellion against God alienates us from Him and makes it impossible to escape the guilt of our sin.

The historical context of today's lesson is based on 2 Kings 15-21.
Isaiah's public ministry spanned across 58 years, yet his message is timeless and speaks to challenges facing America and the church today.

Is the United States a Christian Nation today?

The United States is the third largest unchurched nation in the world, behind China and India.

North America is the only continent where Christianity is not growing.

Seven out of 10 people in North America do not know Christ.

More than 70% of all churches in the United States are plateaued or declining.

Isaiah warned the people of Judah about their sin. Sin had caused God to turn away from them (Is. 59:2) and sin prevents God from hearing our prayers today (Ps. 66:18, Is. 58:2-3).

We must confess our sins and 1 John 1:9 says that "He (God) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" to stay in close fellowship with God. Then we can share with a lost world that God loves and forgives and is ready to meet their spiritual need.

Romans 3:23 says "for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". Everyone needs the Lord. We as God's children must share the one true hope;God's salvation, with a hurting world.
